Biography
I started playing drums at the age of 11 and was in my first band at 15. I put down my sticks for 30 years, not playing the drums once during that time, I had a choice to make, pursue music or be with my family and build a life, I chose the latter. Taking 30 years off starting in the prime of your life and starting up again in a much older age you see how skills diminish. I am barely over half the drummer I used to be and had to learn the mechanics all over again.
My first and true love in music is good old fashion hard rock. I love the energy and abandonment of it. Southern rock is a close second, it can be melodic and intense and also a challenge to play.
I got into the Blues while living in the I35 corridor between New Braunsfels and Austin Texas. That was the music corridor for all of Texas and was a very influential scene. Blues were prevalent in a big way and I got to pick the minds of some great Blues drummers from the era. There was a distinct sound and style for Blues drumming, a Texas style, I loved it because you could be a whole lot more expressive with your beats, you can become part of the melody and not just a beat keeper.
